From Principal Biddy:

The past couple of weeks have been very busy at Sunshine Gardens.  One of the programs that our children specifically benefit from is “Soul Shoppe”.  This organization focuses on building social-emotional skills and anti-bullying strategies. This past Tuesday, Anthony from “Soul Shoppe” talked to each grade level about how to express feelings. Students learned about taking a breath, and using the phrases “I feel…” and “I need” when we are upset. Check out this YouTube video from “Soul Shoppe” to learn more.

We look forward to seeing all our families at both Back to School Night tonight (Sept. 6) and for our Back to School Potluck on Sept. 13. Sunshine Gardens needs parents to help. If you are at all interested, please fill out the forms sent home on 9/6 and send it back with your child.

From the PTA:

Thank you to those who attended our coffee event a few weeks ago – we enjoyed getting to know you and really appreciate your interest in the PTA.

  • MEMBERSHIP: Please keep those membership forms coming in. It’s only $10 to be a member, anyone can join, and our members help guide how we use our funds – it’s all for the kids!
  • VOLUNTEERS: We continue to need volunteers, in any amount you can give – for example, to help at the Back to School Potluck or help plan events and fundraisers. We are looking for one parent to support each teacher, acting as a room representative – we still need room reps for Mrs. Cole, Mrs. Niemann, Ms. Koutoulas, Mr. Corker, Ms. Swayze and Mrs. Hefner. Contact us if you can help or have questions about this.
  • EVENTS: See you at Back to School night, and don’t forget about our potluck next Thursday, Sept. 13, starting at 5:30! Please join our first PTA meeting of the year on Thursday, Sept. 20 at 6:30 – also potluck-style.

Please let us know how our communication is going, and if you have ideas about how to continue improving this. Thank you!
